PARTICIPANTS

The race is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15 who reside in, or whose parents or guardians reside in York Region.

VEHICLES

Vehicles must be built by the driver. Parents may assist with construction of their vehicle for safety and instructional purposes only. Drivers may be asked to demonstrate construction techniques on qualifying day. When vehicles pass inspection, they will be retained by GMCD at Keele Valley, until race day.

QUALIFYING DAY - VEHICLES

All vehicles will be inspected on qualifying day, to ensure for reasons of safety and fairness, that they meet with the established rules. Inspectors may also disqualify any vehicle that does not comply with the "spirit" of the event.

QUALIFYING DAY - DRIVERS

Drivers in full safety gear will drive a short track to test their ability to handle their vehicle. Drivers must be able to show an understanding of the braking and steering systems on their vehicle.

DRIVERS CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT

All drivers are required to wear long sleeves, long pants, and shoes. CAS/UL helmets are mandatory. No capes or scarves are to be worn while driving. Gloves, goggles and knee pads are recommended. No communication devices (i.e. cell phones, walkie-talkies) allowed in the vehicles.

REGISTRATION/WAIVERS

All registration forms must be submitted prior to August 1st. All entry fees must be paid by qualifying day. Signed Waivers must accompany entry fee.

PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES

No use or possession of alcohol, non-prescription drugs, or tobacco by drivers is allowed. No alcohol or non-prescription drugs allowed anywhere on site. There is no smoking allowed in the pit or seating areas.

SITE ACCESS

All spectators to remain in the seating area. Drivers and one (1) designated adult/cart only allowed in pit/ramp area. Pit passes must be worn at all times. Only race officials and drivers, while in vehicles, are allowed on starting ramps.

BEHAVIOR

This is a family event. Pit crew, spectators and drivers may be asked to leave the race if their behavior is deemed inappropriate.

RACING

Cars must remain in their assigned lanes throughout the race. Infractions will be penalized.

FAMILY CARTS

Carts may be used by more than one family member if each driver participated in the cart construction and if they are not in the same division. Each driver must qualify in that cart.

FEES

$25 registration fee - due on inspection date or workshop days if we take registrations then - cash/cheque only, NO debit/credit card accepted

NOTE: All drivers must attend the qualification date, qualify their vehicle and pay the registration fee. If you do not pass car inspection/driver qualification on August 23rd, you will NOT be eligible to race on September 13th. All drivers and parents must sign a race waiver - NO EXCEPTIONS.
